The R&A Rules of Golf shall apply to all 3 Competitions.   The Gents aged 18+ Trophies shall be played off the White Tees.  The Seniors aged 60+ Trophy will be played off the Yellow Tees and the Ladies aged 18+ Trophy off the Red Tees.

Communication

The appointed Team Captain/Organiser will be our point of contact and he/she will be notified by email 14 days before the next round and asked to complete their online Team Sheet which must be completed no later than 7 days before the next round.  This will enable the Swing Against Cancer team to produce and publish the Startsheets on the website. The relevant Startsheet will be sent to each Club Contact via email.

Closing Date

The closing date for Club Competition Registration is on Saturday 24th February 2024.

Qualifying Age

On or before Round 1 entrants must be 18+ for both the Dame Laura Davies  and the England Premier Champions Trophies and  60+ for the Jim Tomlinson Trophy.

The Format

The format is the same for all three trophies. Club teams will play in Fourballs with all 4 players' scores to count towards their overall Team Score.  The Club Team and the Individual player with the highest stableford points in each of the Regional finals will qualify to compete for their respective National Trophies.

Handicaps

All players must have an active WHI handicap.  There are no handicap restrictions.  The handicap allowance for rounds 2/3 for all the trophy competitions is 95% of each Players course handicap rounded up or down.

Countback System

The system applies to rounds 2 /3 for all the trophy competitions.  The result will be determined by countback based on the tied teams individual lowest score being discarded until there is a clear points winner.  If there is a tie for the individual winner then the normal countback rules of golf will apply.

Order of Play

The same rule for the order of play applies to all 3 competitions, the Club Teams will play in combined handicap order, the team with the lowest combined handicap will go out first and the highest combined handicap team will go out last.

Round 1  The Club Qualifiers

These Club Qualifying games can be played in either May or June 2024. The type of Club competition used as a qualifier for all 3 of our Trophy competition is entirely the choice of each individual Club. These may be Monthly Medals, Stableford comps, however they must be WHI Handicap qualifiers. The top 4 either nett or point scorers, from these Club Qualifiers in each of our 3 Category Trophies listed above, will proceed to represent their respective Clubs in a Regional Final. * In the event there are more National entries than anticipated, then an extra round will be added in July.

Round 2  The Regional Finals

There will be 10 England Regionals Finals, these will take place in August 2024 venues/dates tba.   The Club Teams with the highest combined Stableford Score will be the winners,

Round 3  The "Champion of Champions" England National Finals

The 10 Regional winning Club Teams and Individuals will contest the England National Finals in all 3 Trophies, these will be played in September 2024 venues/dates tba.  This is when each of our 3 trophies' Individual and Club Teams winners will be crowned Champions of England.

Team Substitutes

Inevitably some players, due to unforeseen circumstances, will not be able to play in a fixture, therefore team substitutes are allowed and the swingagainstcancer.com team will need to be informed about this no later than 2 hours before a scheduled Tee Time, this can be done online via Teamsheets.

Inclement Weather
In the event a fixture has to be abandoned it will be rescheduled if possible, however because of time constraints this may not be possible. In this case our Competition Committee will decide on the best solution using the principles of common sense and fairness.
